Building custom news reader with mIRC script ?

Hi all,
Being not totally illiterate in mirc scripting, and not fully satisfied with my current tools for reading news, I'd like some advice on this idea
- Would this be possible to achieve?
- Where do i find the basics for setting up connection and message retrieval from newsgroups
If and when some experiments lead to something this could be a great thing:
- Easy filtering out any interest subjects and groups
- Atomatically store relevant things in databases
- Automatically reply to certain messages
- and many many more...

Check the RFCs for the RFC compatible protocol specifications. Then work
from there, and read it carefully. If you are lucky, you should be able
to write the code and interpreters easily.
